Day 5 – Fri Feb 1 - One Day has Consequences for the Next

I stayed up last night after eating at Alberto’s  Mexican restaurant with my daughter Maria Dance and tried to upgrade my iPhone4s to the 6.0.1 operating system.  I backed up the phone to my Lenovo X201 laptop in the hotel and then tried to sync the systems as there were still iPhone applications not copied onto the laptop.  I have 308 applications so far.  To most people that would be a lot, it is about right for me. I am pretty good with technology but not deep down geeky.  However, the sync never finished, it kept going and going and going into the night.  I finally just unplugged it all wondering why I started it at all.

This morning, I didn’t get up early. I got up at 7:30am and had enough prep to do for consulting appointments that I didn’t get to go to the hotel swimming pool or gym.  A wasted morning as far as a workout is concerned and all due to a decision to upgrade the iPhone which didn’t need to be started last night.

Lunch Idea
I had appointments that morning in SLC, UT then headed down to a lunch appointment in Orem with Ken McCarty. He suggested a hole in the wall Mexican place called Mama Chus on 1555 E 800 N in Orem, UT.  It was very popular. On the menu was Mexican food only and nothing light. I ordered the lunch special wondering how many calories that would be. As I chowed everything down including the chips and salsa along with the large lemonade drink, the portions seemed quite large.  We were talking a lot about alternative investments and Ken seemed very interested so I wasn’t paying much attention to the food until near the end when I noticed Ken had about ½ of his plate left and asked the waitress for a take out box. He said he was still loosing weight and that last ½ would be his dinner or for his wife. He had lost 80 pounds already and was aiming for more. Smart idea. Why didn’t I think about it? I had already finished more then I aimed to eat for lunch and it was too late to save calories.

Acie
I then met my son Jacob Dance at BYU and talked for while before going to Smith’s in Provo and buying him some healthy groceries for his cold. I bought myself a Sambazon Acie with Blueberry + Pomegranate juice as I had read about it in the Costco Connection of February 2013 that was intriguing what they did. I have had Acie before but never consciously purchased it before.  See www.sambazon.com for more information on this amazing food source from the Amazon in Brazil.

Dinner
I drove through the Provo canyon to Midway for dinner with my sister Anna Heimburger and her husband Matthew. It was a beautiful drive: sunny, roads clear and dry, snow throughout the canyon. A beautiful area of the world.  We had pasta, bread, and vegetables for dinner then poured over the results of Fischer and Mason’s cross country ski races that day.  Mason had placed 6th and Fischer 13th the day before.
